How to Find Laguardia Airport Parking

How to Find Laguardia Airport Parking

by Martin Donowan

Parking at Laguardia Airport can be intimidating for people who aren’t used to driving in New York City, as there’s a lot of traffic in the area and other drivers can be impatient.

The truth is that Laguardia Airport New York offers many different parking choices, including hourly lots, short term parking and long term parking. Being aware of them before you go can make your time parking at the airport easier.

If you have a friend or relative drop you off, there’s metered parking. Laguardia Airport has this at its Marine Air Terminal, and there’s a two hour limit on it. This will allow your friend or relative to help you take your luggage into the airport or bring it back to the car.

In that case you want to use short term parking at the Airport. There are seven garages or lots where you can do this (each has handicapped spots). There’s one near each terminal at Laguardia Airport New York so if you pick this choice you’re never far from your flight. This is the best type of parking for short trips, but it’s not a good selection for longer ones, because after the first day they start charging thirty dollars a day.

Another option for parking at Laguardia Airport New York is long-term parking. There is one such lot for parking at the airport and it’s located pretty much in the center of the airport. There are courtesy buses that run every 10 to 15 minutes between the terminals so if you leave yourself enough time before your flight this is a great option for parking. Laguardia Airport charges $30 for the first day in their long term parking but only $5 per each 8 hour period after that, so this is the best choice if you’re staying longer than 24 hours.

Handicapped people get a discount for parking at Laguardia Airport so they can park in the lot that’s closest to where they’re going, even if it’s a daily lot. Check with the airport for exact handicapped parking rates.

You can pay to park at the Airport by check, cash, or card. The cards they accept there are American Express, Carte Blanche, Diner’s Club, Discover, Mastercard and Visa. You can also pay for your parking at the airport with EZPass, a quicker and most convenient method.

There are also discounted private vendors who offer parking near Laguardia Airport New York. One such company is called Airpark. They charge significantly less than the parking at the airport and promise to drop you off at the terminal and pick you up when you return. (There’s a toll-free number you call to notify them you’ve arrived.) This is a great option for people who want to save money.

With so many choices for parking, leaving your car at Laguardia Airport New York shouldn’t be an intimidating experience. Whether you’re going on a short trip or a long one, and whatever airline you fly, you can find a space for parking at the Airport with little trouble at all.
